Ann is away in Alabama for the week and I am watching her house. I plan on doing nothing but writing, planning, watching movies and catching up on a lot of sleep.
Audubon Park Garden District 2: July 25th-Aug 4th
August 4, 2011Back at the Audubon Park Garden District Head Quarters and making a nice big mess. My next show, BACON! The Experience, in next month and I still have lots to do. I’ve got a lot of cardboard to transform into a lot of bacons.

My nerdly friend Miriam has asked me to help build a cardboard TARDIS for her roommate’s going away party. I think we did a pretty good job for a couple of kids with a lot of cardboard and paint. Okay, back to making bacons.

What was supposed to be a routine washing of dishes became an extraordinary cleansing of the soul the morning of August 20th at Stardust Video & Coffee. Employees Matt Kamm and Doug Rhodehamel bore witness to the miraculous event.
While cleaning a common butter knife, Matt was stunned to see the image of Jesus Christ left on the utensil from the residue of some cream cheese. “Oh my God!” screamed Kamm, “Jesus is on this Knife!” Rhodehamel, who was with Kamm at the time, concurred.
Knowing the importance of the iconic image, Rhodehamel quickly photographed the knife then placed it safely away. “We want to preserve this image for everyone to see”, said Rhodehamel. “We’re just a couple of guys who want to share this miracle with the rest of the world, they just don’t happen that often…especially at Stardust.”
Liz’s: July 22nd-July 24th
July 22, 2011Liz Langley is and has been my very best friend in the world since the mid nineties. She is an award winning writer and columnist and has a book coming out mid November that I think all of you need to read. Liz and I have been through a whole lot together and have shared tons of fun and dumb adventures along the way. She is house sitting for a few days, so I am taking over her place and watching some nerd-like shows on the tv.

Let’s take some time to plug Liz’s book. Here is the cover of her book and here is where you can pre-order it…

It’s been quite and busy, but there’s not much else to report. I’ve watched a lot of Mythbusters and Discover Channel and am now returning to the loud of the office of Audubon Park Garden District.

Audubon Park Garden District HQ: July 8th-July 21st
July 10, 2011My automobile is away on vacation being worked on for a week or so and I have taken up residency in the office of the Audubon Park Garden District Headquarters.

Kat & Noah run this place and were kind enough to take me in. It’s a bit noisy first thing in the morning when all the traffic starts up and the delivery trucks unload everywhere, but it is very, very, very convenient… Right across the street from work. Now I won’t have to find rides home very late at night.

I’ve got a bit of space here and am working on my next installation AQUAPODICA. It’s a nighttime, underwater, swim through exhibit consisting of hundreds of glowing jellyfish made from water bottles, plastic and glow sticks. Twill be amazing I’m thinkin’. Here’s a sneak peek…

Cool huh? I’ve got 7 pools lined up for the summer, should be a lot of fun!

Oh good. Some creepie 3 foot dolls. They make trying to sleep here even more challenging. Each morning when I wake up, the dolls are somewhere else in the office. Awesome. Now I have a pair of haunted dolls to worry about.

Big Daddy’s is next door. It’s a bar. It’s a karaoke bar. Last night some time after 2 a.m. a couple girls, drunkity drunk drunk girls, decided to sing “Desperato” out front as loud as they could. I had been asleep for a couple hours and there really is no insulation in these walls. They might have well been inside this building. Maybe they were. I think I was willing them to die right there. A handful of hours later a city garbage truck driver was shouting to his friend about how much he loved crawfish. This went on awhile, reminded me of Bubba telling Forest Gump how much he loved shrimp. Like I said, at least this place is extremely conveinient and it gives me something to write about.

It’s hard enough sleeping with all the noise outside, but what really makes it’s difficult are this damn creepy dolls shuffling about all night. Speaking of being up all night, I was up all night barfing. Unlike most people, I hate barfing. It’s what I did all Tuesday night into the late morning. Something I drank? Something I ate? I don’t know. It’s gone now and so is my day.

Well it has been a swell time hanging out here, but it’s time to move along. Thank you Kat and thank you Noah! I’ll be seeing you both real soon anyway. I leave you with a pair of rusty, red bewilderbeasts to go along with your rusty, red floor. I’m off to Big Daddy’s to sing me some Desperato.

Todd part 7: June 15th-July 7th
June 14, 2011Hey I’m back at Todd’s again! June 16th marks my one year anniversary in my cardboard house. I’m not sure that’s a good thing, a bad thing or just a thing. This is gone on way longer than I thought it would. Oh well.

The spare room is a little warm in the morning and I just remembered I designed the house with pop up vents on the roof. Keeps me a little cooler. I am a geeeenious.

Not cool! 7am and there is a crew grinding, scraping and repaving the road out front. The entire house is shaking and the dog is going nuts.

Not the best way to wake up. Heavy equipment + sleeping = bad.

A couple days later I wake up at 7 am again to some more crazy barking. Outside on the front lawn is a crane, two boom trucks and a few support vehicles. I guess they are going to remove the giant oak tree out front. Here’s what’s left. Loud time so far.

Ahh… another Nerd Nite! I found some Boba Fett masks for everyone. We played some board game, I had no idea what was going on… not nerdy enough. We watched some nerdy movies as well. Looking forward to the next one.
I finally have saved up some money, I hope, to fix up my automobile. It’s leaking oil, coolant, and power steering fluid. The driver’s side window has been stuck in the down position since October. Now that we are in the rainy season… It needs to be addressed. Hope this isn’t going to cost too much. I’ll need to move again, somewhere closer so I can catch rides from people, but where?

Evan’s Place 2: June 12th-June 14th

MUSHROOMS ACROSS AMERICA
June 1, 2011
For over a decade I have been creating and planting paper bag mushrooms. As of last month, I have plantings in all 7 continents. As part of the SPORE Project, a project promoting the awareness for creativity and art education, I asking all American citizens to construct, plant and photograph mushrooms made from simple paper lunch bags.
Below is a map of America indication what states have plantings and which do not. I want plantings in all 50 states. You can decorate or paint your mushroom or whatever you want to do. Try to do something indicative of your state. You can do as many states as you wanna. Send your photo to dougrhodehamel@yahoo.com and I’ll put you on the map!
You have until the end of June…one month… Ready? GO!!!
